Three Women in the Bible that every young woman should study

pullAs a young woman, there are many women in the bible which we can study to inspire us as we allow God to mold us into the women he has called us to be. I have decided to look at three amazing women in the bible that I believe can inspire and encourage every young woman through their story.

EVE

It is only right to begin by looking at the first woman created by God, Eve who is referred to as the mother of all living. Eve was the first woman, first wife and the first mother on earth. Eve was a woman that not many people will refer to when thinking of women of inspiration in the bible, but we can learn so much from Eve’s story. Eve’s story teaches us about God’s purpose in creating Me and You.

Created in God’s image…

We are told in the book of Genesis that God created humans in His image, meaning we were all created in God’s image. This brings us to PURPOSE.
In order to understand our purpose as women we must go all the way back to the very beginning, the creation. It is important to study the story of Eve as it highlights the fact that we were all created for a purpose.
The fact that God created you to be a female also has its purpose. As a young woman, this is the best time to discover the purpose which God has placed inside of you. Are you currently walking in that purpose?

Help Mate…

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. Genesis 2:18

When God created man and woman, he created them with specific characteristics and qualities. Prior to creating Eve, God said regarding Adam that it is not good for man to be alone and that He will make a help mate for him (Genesis 2:18). This reveals one characteristic of the woman that we can learn from Eve’s story.
What does this phrase ‘help-mate’ mean? To be a help-mate means to be a helpful companion, which has been translated to mean a helper comparable to man. As a woman, you were designed to be a helper, physically as well as spiritually. But, in order for a woman to be a helper, she must also be helped. That is why it is very important for us to have a close relationship with God and to allow the holy spirit to help us so that we can function effectively in our role as helpers.

Be fruitful, and multiply, replenish the earth, and subdue it…

We then move onto God’s first command to humanity. The first command was to be fruitful, to multiply, to replenish the earth and to subdue it.
In order for us to fulfill God’s purpose, the woman needs to function in her role as the helper. Without the woman, it would have been impossible for Adam to be fruitful, to multiply, to replenish the earth or to subdue it.
Therefore, as young women, in order for us to be fruitful, to multiply, to replenish and to subdue the earth, let us make a decision today, through the help of the holy spirit, to walk in our roles as helpers.

RUTH

The second woman that every young woman should study is Ruth, whose name is said to mean a companion or friend. Many young women look at Ruth’s story as inspiration when referring to marriage and we very often hear the phrase/ or question ‘Where is my Boaz?’
However, I want to focus on the qualities we see in Ruth prior to her becoming one with Boaz. I believe that many young women who have the desire to be married one day can learn so much from the important qualities and characteristics found in Ruth, which can be developed during your single life.

Loyalty…

Ruth is well known for her loyalty to Naomi, her mother-in-law. For those who are not familiar with the story of Ruth, both Ruth and Naomi lost their husbands and Naomi made the decision to return to her home town.
[pullquote]And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. Ruth 2:11[/pullquote]Naomi told both of her daughter-in-law’s to return home upon the death of their husbands however, Ruth insisted on staying with Naomi. Ruth was so loyal to Naomi that she made a proclamation to her that wherever you go, I will go; And Wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. It was Ruth’s loyalty to Naomi which led her to the land where she met her Boaz.
It was this same loyalty that made Boaz favour Ruth (Ruth 2:11). As young women, we must show loyalty from now to those around us e.g. our family. Ruth was a woman of noble character. Take a moment to think about how your character is when nobody is looking.

In the lineage of Christ…Loyalty…

Ruth was a Moabite and was not regarded as part of God’s chosen people. Despite this, Ruth had strong faith in Naomi’s God and through this, God turned her situation around. Ruth became the mother of Obed and the great-grandmother of King David, which engrafted her into the lineage of Jesus Christ. Ruth shows every young woman that no matter your past or where you are coming from, the Grace of God can turn your story around for a greater tomorrow.
God loves you no matter your past. Ruth did not give up, even though things were probably difficult at the time. Do not give up on your journey. Trust God and leave your future in his hands. All things work out for good for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:28).

PROVERBS 31 WOMAN

The final woman we are going to look at is the Proverbs 31 Woman, who is also referred to as the Virtuous Woman. Many young women aspire to be a Proverbs 31 Woman. You may have even put Proverbs 31 woman in your bio on Twitter or Instagram but let us actually study this amazing woman in detail.

She extends her hand to the poor. Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.’ When we give to those who are in need, we are doing this unto the Lord and the Lord will reward us Proverbs 19:17
The Proverbs 31 woman has so many amazing characteristics that we as young women can learn from. Let us look at a few of them!

Who can find a Virtuous Woman for Her price is far above rubies…

Verse 10 of Proverbs 31 speaks of the Virtuous Woman and begins by asking, who can find a Virtuous Woman? This already highlights to us that not every woman is a Virtuous Woman however, this woman does exist. A ruby is a precious stone but a Virtuous Woman is worth much more than many rubies, meaning she is valuable and is definitely a woman worth studying.

Hardworking…

The Proverbs 31 woman is also very hardworking, for the benefit of her home. Proverbs 14:1 tells us that every wise woman buildeth her house. So, not only is the Proverbs 31 woman hardworking, she also has wisdom which has helped her with building her home.
As young women, it is important for us to be hardworking as these are qualities which we would need to take into our future homes. As well as using her time wisely and acting in wisdom, the Proverbs 31 woman also opens her mouth with wisdom (Proverbs 31:26). Our mouth is one area that I know many young women struggle with, but let us continue to ask the Lord for His Wisdom (James 1:5).

She is a giver…

The Proverbs 31 woman is also a giver. ‘She extends her hand to the poor. Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.’ When we give to those who are in need, we are doing this unto the Lord and the Lord will reward us Proverbs 19:17. Every opportunity that you get to give to someone in need, make sure that you give, with a cheerful heart.

Strength and honour are her clothing…

The Proverbs 31 woman realises that her strength and value comes from the Lord and not from anything in this world. Why not pray today that the Lord will clothe you with his strength and honour.

Remember that a woman that FEARETH the Lord, shall be PRAISED!

I hope that you have enjoyed reading a little bit about the lives of these women. These are just three women of the many spoken about in the Bible, but I have chosen these three women as I believe they teach us about our Original Purpose, our Character, and our Future. I encourage you to further study these women and as you do so I pray that the Lord will clothe you with his strength and honour.
