Silent in the time of need

Week 35: 27th Aug 2017 – 2nd Sep 2018

Bible passage to read: Ephesians 4:2

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” 1st John 5:14-15
A doctor who recently lost his job, decided to address a group of Christians during their evangelism. He told the Christians that he once believed in God until the day he lost his family in a car accident and I had just recently lost his job. He accused the Christians; if God calms to be the alpha and omega, how could he allow sort thing to happen to him and his family. The doctor asked the Christians if they are satisfied with their position in life, about nine Christians immediately said no; except a man that held his bible closed to chest, the doctor costumed to speak with confident has he realized he had gotten the Christians attention and he became very persuasive, he tried to change their opinion about God and he stated that he has doubts if God exist. It appears that the Christians were falling into his trap, but the man that held his bible close to his chest decided to advise he’s fellow Christians; by saying, let them alone they be blind leaders of the blind and if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. (Matthew 15:14).
True Christians must believe in God in whatever situation they find themselves. “Persuasion can only overcome a Christian who is shallow in spirit and lacks confident in God”. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. (John 6: 64).
The doctor continued to speak eagerly has he realized the crowd grew bigger and he seems to have gotten more attention, so he used it has an advantage to criticize God based on the negative things that happens in life and he completely ignored good, he made comments based on the fact that God ignores the obvious; he asked, “why does the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, why can’t God perform a miracle if you claim he truly exist”. The people were very confused due to comments the doctor made. For whoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whoever hath not, form him shall be taken away that he hath. (Matthew 13: 12). He seemed like a religionist when he mentioned that the bible and Christianity might be made up to mislead people and to make money. He made examples sort has “why do innocent children fall sick and die, why do we have to work so hard to provide for are family, how come the good die young, is it possible that god exist? If he does, why can’t he protect the Nigerians from the bomb blast that occurred on the 25th December; and why did he allow Japan to be flooded within a blink of an eye. The enteral crowd went silent; their body language and facial expressions proved they had lost hope and believe in God.
The doctor advised them that the words written in the bible aren’t realistic; therefore it should be disobeyed. But if they obey not they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge. (Job 36: 12).
The crowd were filled with doubts, but before the doctor continued; a young man had the courage to step out of the crowd to restore the people’s belief about God, he encourage them not to be like the Israelites that doubted God and worshiped Baal, he also made reference to bible, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).
The young man decided to approach the doctor, “he said I believe you were once happy and comfortable” the doctor eagerly said yes, he also asked if he has every sponsored a charity or financially supported a church, he was stocked and he gave no answers, he felt very uncomfortable which proved he has never contributed to a charity or a church. The young man advised the people to always give back in return to ensure that the blessing of the Lord will remain permanent in their lives.
