Restoration of God’s People (Negev)

Week 37: 10th Sep – 16th Sep 2018

Bible passage to read: Psalm 126

The Negev is a desert and semi desert region of southern Israel. It is a sparsely populated area with about half of the land space of Israel. According to the Theologians, the river of the valley of Negev does not have water in it most of the time but if you see it in the dry months, you will notice that water once lived in it. This is a typical example of lost glory and except the Lord brings water back to it; Negev may remain like that forever!

When the Lord restored the captivity of Zion, they were like them that dream. To restore means to bring back rights or practice. Restoration can also be described as a process whereby stolen rights and properties are reinstated. Restoration always comes with joy. It’s good news that cannot be ignored by anybody. Even enemies often recognize the news of restoration. No wonder the unbelievers were wondering what the Lord has done for the Israelites (Psalms 126).

At this junction, one may be tempted to ask some all important questions like; what are the rights that were stolen, who stole the rights and why or how were they stolen?

Christians were born kings in their father’s kingdom. Therefore, we have the executive divine right to perfect health, good living and prosperity. By God’s standard, we are supposed to be exercising our authority in terms of dominion, relevance and productivity. We are supposed to be established to the extent that the enemies will be envy of us but they will have no power over us (Gen26). Such were the plans of God for us but it seems we are deprived of our rights.

Satan’s ministry as from the time of Garden of Eden still remains the same; the devil is a specialist in stealing, killing and destructions. He steals good health from people and replaces it with sickness. He is still in the practice of using his bait for Christians just as he used the forbidden fruits for Adam and he collected his right to eternal life from him.

Thank God for sending Jesus to restore the eternal life for 8us through the shedding of the blood. By this, we are eternally bonded back to our father and adopted into the kingdom of his dear Son through the grace that surpasses the subtleness of Satan. If God can restore unto us eternal life, then he is able and ready to restore unto us many other things that we might have lost to the devil through our carelessness and ignorance.

What has the devil deprived you; is it your joy, health or family? Christ is more than able to restore them back to you in multiple folds. Though weeping may last through the nights but surely joy will come in the morning. The Lord that restored Job and made his ending to be greater than his beginning is still in the business of doing things and he is ready to do yours. Just believe and you will experience restoration at its best.

Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forevermore (Heb 13:8). So far he has not done it does not mean he will not do it. Gather yourself and believe him for his words. May the Lord make water to spring forth in your dried land in Jesus name. Your Negev will once again receive water, you will experience God in a new dimension, your lost children will come back home, your run away husband/wife will return home and you will have the reason to share Testimonies in Jesus name.
