Process – A Must for God’s Purpose
Week 40: Oct 1st – Oct 7th
Bible passage to read: Romans 8:28
“In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:6
Life is a process – “a series of actions, changes and functions that bring about a desired result”. Do you remember what it felt like when you started to walk as a baby? Probably not! Perhaps, you still have pictures of yourself growing up but the researches proves that due to the curvature of our mothers womb, our backbones are not naturally straight but with time, our ‘series of actions’ changes how move about. The very first step starts off a whole sequence of adjustments in a toddler’s anatomy and the continuation of the same process everyday gives strength to the bones and muscles. In this context, God has his way of preparing us for the journey ahead, out of our comfort zone and into sometimes uncomfortable situation in order to be suitable for our future, a cause, or the next generation. In simply terms, a process would transform anything in its raw form into a product that has added value. The ministry of our lord Jesus Christ lasted about three years according to theologians, but what has happened to him all through the 30 years he lived before his ministry started? The son of God probably knew all along who he was in God and what his final destination was. For many Christians today we just go through the motion and similarly in the life of Joseph(Gen), he had a dream which showed him God’s promise of a future in which he will be superior to anyone in his family. All other events that led him into an Egyptian administrator’s house were processes that was preparing Joseph for his future. Little did that the gift of seeing visions and dream would soon mature into the gift of interpretation but he had to give 100% of himself to God’s will which is the process – steadfastness, focus, tenacity, long-suffering, patience, humility. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 KJV)”
Possessing these qualities can make a meaningful difference to what our outcome would be as we travel through the process of life. So many visions and projects has been into drilled into the most inner part of our souls by God but without passing through the process of change it is difficult for the visions and projects of God to manifest. God might have called you into a duty as an officer in the church and in the process of these busy times, you lose something precious to you. Do you start blaming God or accepting it as his will? The ways of God are mysterious! The bible in 1st Samuel 16:14 says “But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.”
He sent the spirit of jealousy into the life of Saul to shape the type soldier David became – out of a tenacious shepherd boy came a multi-gifted soldier of praise who only played the harp to calm Saul’s spirit but was developed by God to sing and play music to praise God through the process of time. What are you going through at the moment? God knew you would come through this situation before time and holds the master key. Talk to God about whatever you are going through and he will lead you into his will and purpose
