The leaders in my church have told us women aren’t allowed to stand in the church with their back towards the altar. But all we have been told is that it is because it is in our tenants and doctrine. But what is the actual reason?
Backing the altar.
Author:
In the spiritual, when standing there is a line of authority. The order is you stand in front of your senior and not behind them. Now if a woman stands with her back towards the altar it is saying Christ is the next person of authority after the woman. This is not consistent with what Paul says in 1st Corinthians 11:3 “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”
It shows the order is from God to Christ to man to the woman. In academia you have the pro chancellor, the chancellor, the vice chancellor, the deputy vice chancellor, there is always an order. When they file out you won’t see the deputy backing the chancellor, he will back the vice chancellor.
In CCC, God designed it that since the women has yet another authority (the man) before Christ and God they must not back the altar. It is not consistent with order spiritually.
