Speaking in tongues is Biblical so why do our elders forbid it?
Hallelujah celestial weekly
one thing I have observe is that we love to criticise even some things that bible allows. Why is it seen as only for Pentecostals or Kerubu to speak in tongues when even the Apostles of Jesus spoke tongues on Pentecost? Why do our elders say a biblical practice is forbidden?
thank you in advance ???

The bible is explicit about it in 1st Corinthians chapter 14. Speaking in tongues only applies to the person speaking it unless it is interpreted. Otherwise, the church is not edified. For example; someone who has not received the Holy Spirit and is speaking in tongues. It is only this person that is edified.
It is not a Celestial gift even though the Bible refers to it. Paul said prophecy is greater than tongues. What God has given us in Celestial is greater so that many can be edified.
Paul says we should speak in tongues privately. The apostles only spoke in tongues once and after that it was not mentioned again. It is only fresh people coming into the church that begin to speak in tongues. No other place in the Bible says tongues were spoken again.
