New years eve service
Are we meant to keep our candle lit during the course of the service ?and if yes what is the reason behind it?

Author:
Yes you light your candle.
You light your candle during service to illuminate your path into the new year.
You begin service for 10pm and the new year is not there until 12am. You are coming from the old year into the new year. It is like the virgins that took light, (see Matthew 25) and that is why we sing the hymn Halleluyah latorun wa pelu orin ayo, *Olugbala yio pada wa lai ko ni ireti. *
You are going in search of a mystery. The new year is a mystery to you. You go into His presence and from His presence into the year.
This is why as soon as you have prayed into the new year, the first thing you do at 12am is the worship of Olorun Olorun Olorun loba iye… So worship
